The newly remodeled first-floor bathrooms at the Broadway campus have made a significant impact on students, offering both functionality and style. With more stalls, modern design elements, and a spacious layout, the renovation has transformed what was once a cramped and inconvenient space into one that students now appreciate for its cleanliness and comfort. The overwhelmingly positive response highlights the importance of such improvements in enhancing everyday campus life. Now totaling two stalls and two urinals, the first-floor bathroom is no longer a bathroom you have to hope has no line. The renovation was well received by students.
“They have a very modern design and you don’t have to wait in line because of the additions of more stalls and urinals,” says Junior Skylar Cheng.
The complete look and feel of the bathroom has also been upgraded. With lavish gray tiling and brighter lights, the newly upgraded bathroom is very contemporary.
“I like them because before it was as tiny as a closet and I would be claustrophobic but now it’s nice and spacious,” says Junior Andrew Kim
“They are very clean and coordinated allowing for a peaceful bathroom break,” says Junior Julian Anderson.
“The big bathrooms are such an improvement from last year because of the new luxurious space,” says Junior Antonio Ruby.
In total, the renovation cost the school $1.2 million which includes construction, fixtures, architect fees, and permitting. The project started as soon as June of 2023 with a selection of an architect and a discussion of the design of the bathrooms. In April of 2024 final fixtures, lighting, tile, and paint color were selected.. The actual physical construction on the bathroom project started in June of 2024 and was completed on August 15. This was a worthwhile upgrade as the bathrooms have been the same since 1939 when Convent and Staurt Hall first originally acquired the Flood Mansion.
