Very rough start to the 49ers season so far. With a very “mid” record of 2-3, the Niners currently sit 3rd in the NFC West, behind the Seahawks and the Cardinals. Two of the three losses came from division rivals LA Rams and the Arizona Cardinals. Both of these losses were caused by a late 4th quarter comeback from the opposing team, making Niners fans question the coaching style of Kyle Shanahan as well as where the team is at mentally. Junior Luca Avila says: “Shanahan really needs to step it up, our defense looks like a high-school varsity team, and our red zone offense needs work.”
Injuries have also been a concern for the team. Star running back Christian McCaffery has been dealing with achilles tendonitis for some time now and won’t be coming back anytime soon. Deebo Samual, also was out last week. Many other star players that are key to this team have also been suffering from injuries, such as pro-bowl safety Talanoa Hufanga and all-pro tight end Goerge Kittle.
During these player’s absences, others had to step up. Look no further than Juan Jennings’ performance against the Los Angeles Rams. He hauled in 11 receptions off 12 targets for 175 yards and three touchdowns. This all added up to 47 fantasy points, making those few fantasy managers very happy. Junior and Juan Jennings owner Chris Chow says, “Seeing Juan pop off like that really made my day. He was the sole reason I won my fantasy matchup.”
This Thursday, the 49ers play the Seattle Seahawks. This is a must win for the Niners, who cannot afford to be neither 2-4, nor 0-3 in the division. The team will need its stars to shine in each and every position to beat the 3-2 Seahawks that many have as favorites to win NFC West. Go Niners!
