The MLB regular season has ended, and the San Francisco Giants ended with a losing record of 80-82. This is the Giants’ third losing season in a row, and as a result, Farhan Zaidi, the president of operations, was fired. His replacement: Buster Posey.
Posey was the Giants’ catcher for 12 seasons and has become a legend in San Francisco. He retired at the end of the 2021 season, but three years later, he is back working for the Giants’ business side.
“I don’t really follow baseball,” junior Ryder Hsieh says, “but it’s cool seeing my favorite player a part of the Giants again on a management scale.”
Appointing Posey to be in charge of the business side is an advantage for the team and its fans. Posey, having played baseball for the Giants for an extensive amount of time is qualified to take on this new role. As the President of operations, he helps with making trades and negotiating with players with the ultimate goal of winning the World Series.
Sophomore Reece Terrell says, “It’s good to have someone who has so much experience and knows what he’s [Buster Posey] doing managing the business side of the team.”
Overall, it seems that this new appointment of President of Operations comes with much approval. With a legend of San Francisco like Buster Posey in charge, the Giants hope to make a strong playoff run next year.
