This year, juniors at our school are stepping into the IB program, marking a new chapter in their academic journey. One of the most demanding components they face is the Extended Essay (EE), a 4,000-word research project that requires independent study and deep analysis.
Students are already narrowing down their topics, with ideas ranging from biology and environmental science to history and literature. While the project feels daunting, many are motivated by the chance to explore subjects they care about. “The EE is challenging, but it’s an opportunity to work on something I care about,” Junior Lloyd Duskin shared.
The start of the IB program has brought both excitement and uncertainty. Students adjust to the workload and higher expectations, while teachers offer workshops and one-on-one guidance to help them navigate the process.
As the IB program begins, juniors learn to manage their time, refine their research skills, and tackle academic challenges head-on. The work ahead won’t be easy, but they are prepared to rise.
