The 2024/25 cross country season ends with the NCS championship race up in Hayward this Saturday and a potential one-week extension to go to the state championship in Fresno if the knights can brew up a strong performance in the NCS meet. With this being said, many eyes are on sophomore star Reese Terrell, who is the number two or number one runner depending on the day. Despite being an underclassman, Reese has an extraordinary talent and is a lead runner on the team.
When asked about his uprising and if he was aware of his unique ability, Reese had this to say “I first started running in middle school cross-country in 5th grade and I knew I was going to be a good runner when I was the fastest on the team”. Reese seems to always have had a natural talent for running and is commonly referred to as a “freak” by Mr. Buckley because of how ahead of everyone else he is.
Reese also has had a fairly successful first two years often medaling in highly competitive races and running in the NCS championship race despite his young age. “I love Stuart Hall and I feel really at home here especially because of all the friendships I’ve made. It feels really good being one of the best and I enjoy taking up a leadership role, I also feel like I’m a good leader for the team”, is what Reese said when asked about how he likes Stuart Hall and his leadership role on the cross-country team.
To conclude, this cross-country season has been blessed with young talent and exciting prospects for the future with Reese Terrell at the center of this young squad. Whether he wants it or not, he will be scrutinized every race because of his supernatural ability on the cross-country course.
