With fall sports coming to an end, winter sports are here! These include Convent and Stuart Hall basketball, soccer, and co-ed wrestling.
This year, the men’s basketball team is looking to build on their successful season last year, when they achieved an overall record of 23-6 and 8-2 in league play. Many players will need to step up after losing some great talent due to graduation or transfers. Their first game is against Waldorf on Saturday, November 23, 2024. Their first league game is against University on January 4, 2024.
The men’s soccer team is looking more promising this year compared to last. They aim to improve on their overall record of 3-9-7 and 1-7-2 in league play from the previous season. However, the team lost many seniors—specifically, 11 seniors. They played their first game on Wednesday, November 20, against Jefferson High School at Jefferson and won 2-0. Their first league game is against Lick on January 7 at Beach Chalet.
The wrestling team lost some players who chose not to continue this year, but with the addition of some newcomers, they were able to maintain their team. They attracted both upperclassmen and lowerclassmen to join. Junior Diego Ferrufino shared, “The year started off solid. I can’t wait for the duels coming up.” We’ll see how they perform as the season progresses.
If you have time, be sure to come out and support both Convent and Stuart Hall sports!
