The Convent and Stuart Hall High Break to Break Reading Challenge started at the beginning of our mid-February break and will continue until the end of spring break. High school students and faculty are invited to participate. Readers log their reading hours, and at the end of each week, they fill out a Google form to enter any reading points from the past week. All books have to be printed, in prose format, and each book must be at least 100 pages. You can’t include books you read for class, it has to be a book you have not read before.
On top of regular reading hours, you can earn one bonus point for finishing a book borrowed from the school library and another bonus point for completing a newly cataloged book borrowed from the school library. The final submission is Monday, April 21.
Everyone can win prizes. You earn a prize for reaching the following point benchmarks:
At 2500 points, you get a sticker. At 5000 points, a button pin. At 7500 points, a tote bag, and at 10000 Points, a gift card.
“I just finished Josh Brolin’s memoir, so this week, I’ve been immersed in No Country for Old Men, which I borrowed from the LC. It’s a classic Western infused with relentless violence, yet its atmosphere and setting feel like they’re utterly sui generis. In my opinion, Cormac McCarthy is nothing short of a legend.” says Mr. Sisco, who is on the top five leaderboard.
Everyone can still sign up and log hours retroactively from mid-February break! Happy Reading!
