The new year means new things. 11 Man Football, Cross Country, and new freshmen. The one thing that has remained consistent over the last few years is a new schedule. This new schedule is much different from last year.
Long gone are the days of the long block with the lunch in the middle. Not only are blocks shorter now, but there is also a set of 10-minute free periods at the end of the day. For many, this is great because, within these periods, they don’t have to cross campus. But many also miss the nice 20 minute periods that we used to complete history homework that we forgot about.
Senior of 4 years and experienced in 3 schedules, Alex Cruz comments on it. “It is definitely a new experience full of surprises that I am looking forward to experiencing this year. I am excited about the speed of learning.”
Some are very excited for the change, while others yearn for the days of long classes. Senior Daniel Montejano says he “Isn’t excited for the 4-day workweeks because it could mess everything up.”
Some people expressed concerns because of how fast the class happens. “The hour-long classes don’t work because most of the time we do 30 minutes of actual work after all the time it takes to get ready,” says senior Pierce Quigley.
Some enjoy the speed, some are not as keen about it it. But what is certain is that everyone is going to have to get used to doing homework faster Having class three days a week means that more homework can be assigned during the week.
