With winter sports almost over, the Knights are preparing to defend the Section Championship. Key returning upperclassmen Max Oenning, Rhett Sypult, Christian Rodriguez, and Annania Sirak, who all received BCL West/Central All-League Honors, will look to carry the legacy that last year started. In addition to winning the sectional title, the Hall narrowly missed out on winning the League Championship. While the sheer numbers of University allowed them to build a lead in the first meet, Stuart Hall was able to overcome the disparity in team size and win the next three meets; however, they fell a few points short in the end.
The Hall will look to lean on their throwing for a consistent outpour of dominance, led by senior Annania Sirak and juniors Andrew, Matthew, and Alex. On the sprinters’ side, Stuart Hall has the two fastest 100m and 200m runners in the league in Max Oenning and Rhett Sypult. In addition, the Hall has the fastest 400m runner, and he’s only a sophomore—Shail, who set the Stuart Hall freshman record in the 400m last year, is the fastest returning 400m runner in the league and will look to make good on his results from last spring. Shail says, “I am excited to see the progress of some of our older runners and expect some great things from our younger runners.” On the distance team, juniors Luke Spalding and Luca Avila will look to build off a promising fall season to help lead the distance team. Junior Henry Hudson says, “I am excited to see the school’s track season and to see them beat University.”
Junior Christian Rodriguez says, “I honestly think we have a very good chance to beat University this year; we have a lot of passion and heart on this team, and I am looking forward to a very prosperous season.” Another junior, Luca Avila, says, “I am excited for the season; we are going to break a lot of records.”
