The Sweet 16 round of this year’s march madness has produced some of the most memorable moments in tournament history. Alabama’s Crimson Tide blew out BYU with a record setting offensive performance.
1 seed Duke, faced off against Arizona in a highly anticipated game, Arizona Star, Caleb Love had a near career high game, ending with 35 points and leading a second half run that cut Duke’s lead to 5 points. In the end, it wasn’t enough as Duke freshman, Cooper Flagg, responded with 30 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, including a logo three at the halftime buzzer.
Friday also included more historic games, with Michigan State making a comeback to advance past Ole Miss. In a close game freshman Jase Richardson asserted himself when the Spartans needed it most, and ended the game with 2 points. Auburn had to rally against Michigan, and then Houston ended the round with an outstanding win after a masterful out-of-bounds play to beat Purdue just before the final buzzer.
This weekend marks the start of the Elite Eight and is expected to have some of the most exciting matchups of the tournament. As of now, only 8 teams remain: Michigan State, Auburn, Texas Tech, Florida, Houston, Duke, Alabama, and Tennessee. Michigan State faces off against Auburn, Texas Tech plays Florida early on Saturday, Duke and Alabama will play in what’s expected to be a high scoring game, and Tennessee goes up against Houston.
