For many seniors this year,
their projects are already on the
move! Specifically for one stu-
dent, Sebastian Horton-Vega
(‘24), his project, “DiveIn”, along
with Evan Marriot (‘24), is aimed
to “help teach kids from Rosa
Parks elementary school how to
swim based on the summer pro-
gram that [he] did in New York
City during the summer”. Sebas-
tian says, “In the summer pro-
gram, I learned so much, from
being a certified lifeguard while
teaching kids to swim” which
shows how Sebastian’s life expe-
riences influenced his passion.
CAS is an important piece to the
IB puzzle and without it candi-
dates would not be able to re-
ceive their diploma. But, with the
amazing CAS coordinator, Mrs.
DeMartini Cooke, all the seniors
are definitely on track and are ex-
pected to be finished with their
CAS projects after winter break.
Throughout the CAS pro-
gram, students are required to
document their experiences
and reflect on what they have
learned and how they have grown
through their CAS activities. This
reflection is an essential part of
the CAS program, as it encour-
ages students to think critically
about their experiences and their
impact on the community.
Ultimately, the CAS project
and CAS program as a whole aim
to develop well-rounded individ-
uals who are not only academi-
cally capable but also socially and
personally responsible citizens
who are actively engaged in their
communities.
Keeping up with CAS
